This marks the first appearance of the first part of Frank Herbert's SF classic, Dune. In 1959, he stared the research for the book. Six years later, he was finished writing it. Part of it was published by Campbell as Dune World, serialised in three parts in 1963 and 1964. The rest of it was serialised in five parts in Analog as The Prophet of Dune in 1965. Campbell understood what he had right away. But Herbert submitted it to twenty book publishers before he landed a contract with Chilton in Philadelphia - they released it in December 1965.
